What you should know
Best time
Arrive around 1pm on weekdays to avoid crowds and have a more peaceful experience with the volunteer staff, who are knowledgeable and eager to answer questions about the layouts and railroad history.
Visitor tip
Young children particularly enjoy the N Scale section (smallest trains) and the tunnel windows where kids can watch trains pass through. Toddlers have plenty of room to stretch their legs along the 200+ feet of walkway without disturbing the exhibits.
Visitor tip
Engage with the volunteer staff members operating the trains—they provide informative commentary about railroad operations, train history, and the detailed scenery, enhancing the educational experience beyond what you'd learn just viewing the static models.
