Location

What you should know

Visitor tip The museum is located on the second floor of the library—visitors unfamiliar with this location may have difficulty finding it, so ask library staff for directions upon arrival.
Visitor tip Schedule a guided tour with staff like Kathie Marsh to get the most from your visit. Reviews highlight that guided tours provide excellent context for the well-organized exhibits and enhance the educational experience.
Best time Avoid visiting during SCF Spring Break (week of March 9-13) as the museum is closed. Plan weekday visits when possible to avoid the appointment requirement needed for weekend visits.

What visitors say

This is a hidden gem in Manatee County. If you want a local review of African American culture and influence, this is a must visit. It has many unique exhibits that you wouldn't find anywhere else. My advice is to schedule a tour as…
Really really Great collection of African American history! Just in case you didn't know though it's located within the library so you have to go to the second floor. Just so you don't get lost!
I loved being able to see all of the pictures and learning about our history.
