The Regenstein House is an excellent indoor retreat during chilly Chicago weather. Plan indoor visits here during fall and winter months when outdoor zoo exhibits are less comfortable.
Visitor tip
Don't miss the nocturnal animal section which features an unusually high number of rare species. Some areas are quite dark, so allow your eyes to adjust and consider visiting earlier in the day when you're alert.
Best time
If visiting during Zoo Lights evening events, note that animals may be sleeping or inactive. Plan dedicated daytime visits to the Regenstein House to see the creatures at their most active and visible.

Not all animals we visible and it rained...oh well... the Gorills were amazing!
I was surprised by how many macaques there were, and they were very active. They were very fun to watch and very photogenic.
